Grafting
The most tedious part of growing mangoes... but also the most fun
Here are the three most common grafting techniques with high success rates.
The most common, and easiest graft, is the cleft (or V-cut).
The second most popular technique is the side veneer. This technique is used primarily when the rootstock is significantly larger than the scion when a cleft graft is not possible.
Lastly, and least used technique, is the whip graft. This technique creates more points of cambium contact, so, in theory should be the most successful technique. However, the cut on this graft is much more difficult and takes a lot of practice to get right.
